19. I have dedicated physical office space set up.
Oh, yes. We’ve had an office for 6 years. When I moved out on my own again in 2003, I made sure that I had a separate room for an office. I like being able to go in there, close the door (if need be) and plow through some work. Grant Griffiths at Home Office Warrior posted my submission in his Home Office Snap Shot series, so you can get a good gander at my desk and my explanation of our office and what it means to me. One thing that I am anxiously awaiting is being able to renovate! I dislike the honey colored walls and long to go to a yellow or mint green. I need it to be bright and soothing!

20. I have all the office supplies I need (p. 92 of Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity) Errrrrrrrrrr…………hmmmmmmmm………this might be one where I have gone overboard. *stands up* My name is Kris and I am an addict! I looooooooooove office supplies: pens, mechanical pencils, shiny objects……..*sigh* But you know what? I don’t pay retail for hardly anything, so the supplies that I do have are very reasonably priced. If you look at my desk, there isn’t so much clutter that I can’t get my work done. As a matter of fact, it’s fairly clutter-free. I do want to get some shelves up on the wall over the CPU so I can move stuff there and get it off my desk.

21. I have mobile office space set up, if needed.
Well, with the wicked cool purchase price I just got on a new Crackberry Blackberry, I think that I have that one really covered. We also got an awesome deal on a Sony Vaio last year on Black Friday. We waited 20 hours in the SNOW for it, but it has allowed us to become more mobile, and quicker at it, too. My old Gateway laptop was just a chuggy thing with not much speed at all. Everything we need for the laptop is kept in it’s briefcase, so we are always good to go with technology! I tend not to be the type of person that needs every gadget out there to Get Things Done, so if I have either my BB or laptop, I am mo-bile!

Well, we are almost a quarter of the way through! On the next post it will be the big 25! So if you could, think on all we’ve reviewed at the end of the first quarter and tell me what have been the three most important highlites for you. I’d love to know!

    19. My goal for our next house is to have a separate office with a door. Right now, I have a computer desk in our “dining room” area. It’s not bad, but it’s not ideal either. The plan is to be in a new house in the next couple of years.

    20. I have all of the office supplies I need; however, they could be a little better organized. I could probably stand to get rid of a few things and make my desk less cluttered.

    21. For mobility, I keep my HP TC1100 Tablet PC with me. Although this is an “old school” tablet, I can’t imagine going to another one. For my needs, it has plenty of power and like having the ability to remove keyboard and work on just the slate. I also have a Palm Treo with me at all times, so I am always able to have a good level of mobile computing ability.

Kris reply on September 2nd, 2008 6:57 am:

Gosh sometimes I forget how privileged I am! I have had an office with a door for about 7 years – but I do remember what it was like to have my computer, etc in a main room. It can be quite a hindrance to productivity!

As long as your technology works for you, dot’ fix it! As the old saying goes, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

Thanks for going through this with me Phil – and best wished on the nuptials!
