Home Office Productivity – Get your Paper Here!

Reading my feeds over the holiday weekend, I came across and article for a website that I had known about, but had pushed to the back of my mind.

printablepaper.net is a great website for finding all sorts of printable paper items. From college ruled filler paper, Yahtzee scorecards, and check registers to graph paper, both isometric and 3D. It has more different types of printable paper than you ever thought existed.

This is a great resources for places besides the home office: in the dorm when you’ve ran our of paper and have a handwritten thesis due in two hours, or at home when you quickly need to do a hand-drawn mind map and are out of graph paper. You did know that graph paper is great for creating mind maps, right? ;)

printablepaperThe image above shows just a smattering of paper types. Click on over to their website to see all the different kinds. For Productivity & Organization experts, this site can and will make you drool! Printable Paper has been featured by LifeHacker, Kim Komando, Woman’s World magazine, and elsewhere.

Not only is this a frugal way of keeping yourself in paper (saves gas due to no trips to the sotre, plus it’s much cheaper to print yourself), it also helps in the time management because you don’t have to go anywhere to get your paper: just print and produce!

Office Organization – How I Organize My Office

As I’m sure you can assume, I read quite a few GTD, organization and productivity blogs. One thing that struck me this last week is how not many show their workspaces and explain to their blog friends what they are seeing and how it functions. Well, I’ve done this in the past, and we are going to have another glimpse into my office today :)

“You know you’re a productivity geek when…..”
you spend a Friday night organizing your office. Yep, last Friday I spent the evening organizing my storage in the office. As most offices are, mine is a converted bedroom. Our closets in this hose are the ones that have doors on tracks that hang from the ceiling. I knew when we bought this house that I wanted to make the closet a storage space, and knew that the sliding doors would be a problem. My SO removed them, and thus appeared the built-in storage unit in our office.

Searching for the right containers for storage was a challenge for me. I knew what I wanted in regards to document boxes, but was NOT going to pay the $15 price tag for each box. I think you know by now that I;m a really frugal chic, and that just isn’t in my budget. So a’hunting I went to see what I could find.

My first sop was Google – I did a search for document storage and looked at what I found. Everything was too pricey for my budget, but I did stumble upon these storage boxes: they are colorful and well within my price range. With these boxes, you get five of each color, and on eBay, they were only $8.88 A SET! Now THAT’S a price I can handle! When I bought these off eBay, they carried four different style: CD boxes, Magazine files, and small and large storage boxes. I couldn’t wait for them to arrive!100_2317

When they did, I was like a kid in a candy store – these were fabulous! They weren’t quite as bright was what is shown in the auction, but I like them anyway. I bought one of each set, so I had twenty storage boxes. I tend to keep a good deal of labels on hand as well as different types of paper, so these were great! Take a look at the picture to see the finished organization. Up on the shelf in the closet you see three different types being used and under the printer is the fourth. These boxes are plastic and come flat – you have to assemble the lid and the actual box. They seem quite sturdy and are attractive at a reasonable price. The only thing that I have left to do now is to print out labels from my P-Touch labeler and they will be complete.

This seller on eBay seems to only have one size listed right now, but I know the company that sells them, so email me if you want more information.

So how do you organize your office or the rest of your home? What do you use for storage? I use these in my office, but in my great room I have some canvas bins that are used to store the dog toys. What’s your favorite method? Let’s discuss and please post links to pictures – I want to see your organization!
