On taking a Brief Sabbatical
Welcome back!
You may have noticed or you may have not that I was absent last week. This wasn’t so much intentional as it was needed. I have been writing on this blog for well over a year and have had posts five days a week at least, since I started this blog. I felt it was necessary to take a brief sabbatical to recharge my batteries. Not only that but I need to refocus my priorities and decide what I wanted to do with several areas in my life.
I took some time and tooled around the Internet doing some things on Facebook, staying away from my RSS feeds just to zone out the information and focusing on some things around the house. This has helped me immensely and I feel like I can start this new week fresh and with the clear peace of mind..
I’m still on the search for daytime employment, as I do not quite have enough clients yet to be able not to work in a regular day job. As you all know and as I’ve mentioned before is my dream not to work at a regular day job and to only work on my organization and productivity consulting business. Business is slow to be built, especially in this economy, and it’s difficult to be able to network with people due to their own time constraints or their ability to devote time to speak with you. When the economy gets this way, it is imperative that people that have their own businesses focus on their clients and their ability to grow more clients. So their opportunities to talk to those that are comrades in their own fields are limited.
Over the next week I will be doing some intensive work for a client on a personal assisting type level. What I also want to get accomplished this week is a schedule of events in my area that I can go to a network with people. Obviously there’s Toastmasters in my area, but I do believe that they charge a membership fee to join and being laid off. I prefer not to spend any money. So I’m going to search online and see what I can find locally in my area that is free to attend.
Thanks for hanging in there for the week and know that I’m back in the saddle with a new focus… a fresh focus!
