Office Productivity: My 20 Steps to Improve Your Productivity – Drink Lots of Water
Welcome back!
Have you ever felt fatigues and light headed during the day? Has your brain felt foggy and like it’s crawling through sludge? Do you get frequent headaches and feel that your muscles are weak?
Could be because you’re not getting enough water.
The body is comprised of 55% to 75% water, with some organs up to 92% water. Even if you are just a little dehydrated, this can cause a very noticable effect on you.
So how much water should you drink? A good rule of thumb is to drink 64 ounces a day. Not only will this keep your body hydrated, it will also assist the body in flushing out toxins. Without water, there is nothing to push teh toxins through your body and expel it. Water is the carrier for toxins and is so very important to stay healthy.
At my place of employment, we have a small kitchenette that contains a refrigerator and a microwave. I have an old VitaminWater bottle that I fill half full of water and lay on its side in the freezer, so that it will freeze but I will still be able to get water in it. It is a 20 ounce bottle, so I know that I should drink three of these per day and try to do so at work. But at times I will get distracted or focused on my tasks and neglect my water and not drink enough.
When you get those sleepy spells after lunch, try drinking a tall glass of water. Not only will running to the restroom keep you awake, but the water will help to rejuvenate you too!
Drink, drink, drink your water. It is very important to nourish your body – next to air water is the most vital item for our bodies!

Drinking water is indeed very important. Be careful, though, with the VitaminWater bottle. Older clear plastic bottles (#1 on the bottom) would break down and leach out something like dioxin. Newer clear plastic #1 bottles have been re-formulated, however some are concerned about bacterial accumulation.
Consider getting a sports bottle. They’re cheap ($.50 at Walgreens, they’re often tchotchkes at trade shows), usually hold 16-32 oz., and the pull-top makes it easy for you to drink more.
